Today I am going to be speaking about how conversational hypnosis can be dangerous when it gets into the wrong hands.With the correct execution conversational hypnosis can enable you to control people. Derren Brown is a renowned hypnotist from the UK. He’s been featured on many national TV programs showing off his skills. One of the most amazing things I’ve seen him do is hypnotize a random person and then make them withdraw ?5000 from the bank for him. They went and did this oblivious to the spell that they were under. They handed him the money no questions asked and then he simply told them that in 10 seconds they had to forget the last 10 minutes of their life. When the person who had been hypnotized watched the film they were in total shock and had no memory of the event. This is an extreme example however. There’s no question that Derren Brown is one of the best in the world at doing this. Unfortunatley because of its power, conversational hypnosis is now being used for criminal activity. In America a man was calmly robbing many different shops and he was doing this by hypnotizing the cashier. Once they were under his spell he would then ask them to fill up his bag with money and then he would walk away. The only reason staff became aware of this scam was because the tills never added up properly at the end of the week and CCTV footage exposed to them what was going on. There are many other stories of hypnotists using their skills to steal money or to scam people out of money. It is a perfect crime because unlike using violence for crime, there’s no noise or commotion so it is very plausible that you could go unnoticed. I personally have been learning conversational hypnosis as a hobby. It is great fun to learn and put into practice but you need to be careful not to let the power go to your head and to make sure you stay on the right side of the law.
