Combatting Acid Reflux With A Detox Diet
Low stomach acid leads to GERD, also known as acid reflux, a condition that is reaching epidemic proportions. When you’re suffering from this problem, the contents of your stomach back up into your esophagus. Both undigested food and the stomach acid that is supposed to digest it rise up into a place where they’re not supposed to be. Nausea, vomiting and the burning sensation of heartburn - literally, acid rising into your esophagus - are among the most dramatic results. You might also experience bloating, gas, belching, rectal itches, fatigue and a whole host of other not very pleasant symptoms.
A healthy detox diet is one way to start addressing the issues within your stomach. Make sure you include some raw foods or very lightly cooked vegetables to help boost your digestion process and get your body detox well under way.
Because acid reflux is so often misdiagnosed, you need to check how many different symptoms you are experiencing. If you suffer from more than two or three, or if you suffer from any of them frequently or severely, it is likely that you have some version of acid reflux.
Jonathan Wright, MD, a nutritional pioneer whom I have followed for years and who is also an expert on hydrochloric acid, has found that some 90 per cent of his patients who suffer from acid reflux have too little stomach acid. So you do the maths. If you’re suffering from any of the common acid reflux symptoms, you’re probably producing too little stomach acid as well.
